Scope of Work
Wassu Gambia Kafo is a non profit international initiative established in The Gambia in 1999. It is one of the research stations of the Transnational Observatory of applied research to knowledge transfer for the management and prevention of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C), under the umbrella of the Wassu-UAB Foundation - Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona in Spain.

Job Summary
The Research and Activities Coordinator will be responsible for the design and
implementation of the research and project activities, under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. He/she will also provide technical support to the Program Manager and the Technical/Training Coordinator.
The Research and Activities Coordinator will be responsible for:
- Coordinate and supervise the organization and implementation of the
research activities.
- Build the capacity of field workers in data collection and research.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of research agenda,
baseline studies as well as other specific evaluations.
- Supervise the development of tools for M&E in both quantitative and
qualitative data analysis.
- Develop of research proposals and protocols.
- Assist in the design of an epidemiological surveillance model.
- Participate in scientific articles writing as well as peer reviews.
- Provide general administrative and technical support to the Program
Manager and the Technical/Training Coordinator.

Person Specifications:

Qualification and Experience:
- At least Master’s in Public Health and/or Social Sciences.
- At least 3 years experience in field work and research in sub-Saharan Africa.

Skills and Abilities:

- Strong skills and experience in using mix methods (qualitative and quantitative).
- Excellent organizational and coordination skills.
- Excellent report and article writing.
- Strong skills in data analysis and use of participatory methodologies.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/responsibilities independently, with initiative and in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to work cordially within a team, self-motivated worker and good team player and leader.
- Respectful and ability to handle culturally sensitive issues in a tactful way.
- Excellent English. Spanish will be an advantage.
